WHO WERE THE BLOODS AND CRIP?

It’s a story that took place in the later 60s, gained hype during 1980, and is still there in the hearts of some people. In Los Angeles, California the conditions weren’t like today and the law and order situations were disrupted since the African-American street gangs were after each other. No one could be neutral and everyone had to take sides if they wanted to live in California. At first, both Bloods and Crip gangs were formed in order to protect and defend the rights of all those living in Los Angeles because a majority of the dark-skinned people were never given the rights and resources they deserved.

HOW WAS THE CRIP GANG FORMED?

Hence, the Crip gang was initiated by two people Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams which formally gained popularity in 1962 though was working for years. Everything was normal but the Crip gang members got out of control and were seen getting involved in illegal business. People weren’t their primary concern now, but their personal benefit became more important. Moreover, the Crip members even fought in the streets without any reason. It can be said that they become brutal to their own people, torturing, killing, and murders became normal for them.

WHEN AND WHY WAS THE BLOODS GANG DEVISED?

Somewhere around in 1972, the Crip gang members committed the biggest mistake of their life as they unnecessarily stormed two students Sylvester Scott and Benson Owens. It was a fight that boiled the blood of all the students (to be specific, youth!). As a result, Scott made a gang named “Bloods” in Piru while Owens also formed a gang with the same name but in the West of Piru. It is said that the Blood gang name is an acronym for “Brotherly Love Overcomes Overrides and Destruction.” When they became stable enough then not only did these two join their gangs and forces but all other street gangs annexed them (particularly those who were tired of all the lawlessness created by Crips). And, Bloods gang became powerful enough to stand against all the wrongfulness of Crip.
