The story takes place in 2017 when a New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor gets an unknown tip that points to Harvey Weinstein. As per the tip, he has been sexually harassing Rose McGowan. Of course, Kantor considers this the biggest story of her life and desires to work on it. With the green signal of her seniors Dean Baquet and Rebecca Corbett, Kantor begins her investigation. In the in-person meeting with McGowan, the actress reveals nothing. She is adamant about the fact that only her silence is the key to her successful career. But miraculously, McGowan changes her mind and calls Kantor to reveal that she was raped by Weinstein when was just 23 in age. With one in the queue, Kantor searches for more people who can make her case stronger. She then connects with Ashley Judd and Gwyneth Paltrow who affirm what McGowan stated. They had also been a prey of Weinstein but didn’t want their names to be revealed for the sake of careers.

Now, Kantor was sure that the tip wasn’t fake but still, she wanted someone to take front so that the readers wouldn’t consider it a bluff. In order to add pace to the work, she gets along with Megan Twohey, a reporter. Apart from actresses, Twohey and Kantor look into the female staff who has worked with Weinstein. Fortunately, they get in contact with Miramax who has been an assistant to Weinstein in the past. The case has just begun because Kantor and Twohoney have no idea what’s coming toward them.
