STORY OF THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT

The Queen’s Gambit by Netflix brought a new wave of energy and received nominations for awards like Emmys. Queen’s Gambit is a story that covers a little girl named Beth Harmon obsessed with chess. Not only the plot has been hyped but the game of chess also gained the attention of all. Record sale of chess games and books were sold while Queen’s Gambit was premiered.

Coming back to the story, Beth Harmon is an attractive girl only eight years old. She lost her mother in a car crash and was moved to an orphanage. There, Beth found a new environment to which she wasn’t used to. Manipulative eyes, selfishness, and eagerness to win everyone’s sympathy take over everyone in the orphanage. Beth couldn’t find solace anywhere but the orphanage, custodian Mr. Shaibel introduced her to a new world in the game of chess.

There are a few things fishy in the orphanage as all girls are given some numbing pills which have an element of alcohol. This one drug becomes a trigger to Beth’s intelligence and she soon became a highly praised chess player. After some years, a childless family of Alma and Allston Wheatley adopt Beth who turns out to be loving and supportive. Soon they recognize the talent of their girl and let her take part in various chess competitions which she always wins. But, her addiction to certain pills and alcohol persists which adds problems to her life and career.
