Edward Elric

Edward also known as Ed is a young boy but don’t doubt his skills in alchemy as he even fights with some big names like Kimblee, Scar, and the Homunculi. The name of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist is based on the character of Ed as he has a body (arms) made of metal with which he conjures such spells of alchemy that stuns powerful people like Colonel Mustang.

At such young age, Ed has seen many catastrophes in his life and is working relentlessly to make the things like before but the hardships have made him stubborn and rigid, however, he is compassionate, loyal, and never backs off from his words.

Alphonse Elric

Scar

He is on a mission to revenge the bloodshed during the Ishvalan War; his family, friends, and most of the people belonging to his religion had been gruesomely murdered during the war by alchemists and now, he has become more powerful to avenge.

Being a warrior-monk in Ishvalan, Scar is an excellent combatant and his super-speed allows him to dodge even the bullets fired at him. Homunculus

Homunculus is considered as the mighty alchemist in the world and the Elric brothers call him ‘Father’ observing his level of abilities. Father has the power to control other Homunculi. The most important thing here is that Father is an antagonist and considers humans even less important than insects that crawl over the ground.

Father is a merciless being who is formed after drinking a liquor made with the Sorceror’s stone and his original body is more horrible than you can imagine. He also has the ability to create bodies for various souls, moreover he also has the power of shield from alchemy magic.

Izumi Curtis

Curious to know who taught Ed and Alphonse the art of alchemy that they have reached the epitome? Izumi Curtis is the woman who made the children capable enough to master the skill. Curtis might seem like an arrogant lady but she has a soft heart and even started to love the children like her own.

Her personality turns a little aggressive at times but no need to worry because her intentions are always to teach and she always gets annoyed when the kids don’t focus. Among few people who can conduct alchemy without a transmutation circle, Curtis is one of them as she has also failed to conduct Human Transmutation and now has access to the Internal Gate. Mei Chang

Mei Chang is not any ordinary human but is a princess of Xing. She might seem very young but her confidence and strength of achievement are higher than Mount Everest! Chang is on the mission to find the secret to immortality and she has been on the journey with her panda pet Xiao Mei.

Envy

Even the name suggests how disgusting the character would be! Envy is a symbolic character and for this reason has no gender. It has the ability to shape-shift and can turn into anyone it sees. Her soul is somewhat a part of Father and detests humans even more than Father does. Its original appearance is like a filthy caterpillar but it mainly imitates someone’s looks as a disguise.

Envy is immortal and heals automatically even if it gets hurt and does not eat or drink but is a sort of parasite who lives by possessing the humans who get under control of Father.
