Questions And Answers About The 80s

80s Era

Entertaining Movies

The industry of movies actually showed its importance, influence, and vitality in the 80s. People weren’t aware of what the world could give them in terms of entertainment. Theatres and dramas were the only things they realize are reachable but with epic production, the waves turned. Some incredible and heart-winning movies Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Crocodile Dundee, 3 Men And A Baby, Gremlins, Batman, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and others are the classics of the era. Let us remind you that this is the reason why the 80s period was called the “Spielberg era” in the entertainment industry.

Music Was Awesome

With the launch of musical channels like MTV in 1981, we all could see how the world reacted to the new genres. Pop, metal, Metallica, twisted disco, electrical, hip hop, punk rock, and others were gradually taking over the ears. Before the 80s, house parties never had songs and such things, only people used to sing old folk songs, etc. However, in the 80s everything changed and we saw how families enjoyed music by stars like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Billy Joel, and others who ruled hearts.

You cannot be a fan of the 80s until you owned or heard songs from most records The Wall, Hi Infidelity, Asia, Thriller, Call Me, Don’t Be Cruel, and other Billboard toppers. It was the time when music from the US, the UK, and other English countries traveled to all parts of the world and it was the first brick towards globalization. All these made their way throughout the globe in cassettes.

Gadgets Of The 80s

Unfortunately, the 80s was a time when there were no such gadgets on the market, and neither did people have phones, tablets, consoles, or any other thing. Hence, the first thing that was released as a personal entertainment gadget turned out to be was Walkman. This was something that was a desire of every young and old because Walkman became a thing for ostentation.

Except for Walkman, people owned radios which didn’t have personal headsets or anything. Plus, the listeners did not have a choice over songs. However, in Walkman, everyone saw liberty and style in this gadget and so it turned out to be the most famous thing in the 80s.

80s Fashion

80s fashion can still be seen in fashion brand outlets and local shops in almost every country. The acid-washed jeans, oversized pants and T-shirts, basketball sneakers, crop tops, velvet scrunchies, and crimped hair are all things that were the top trends in the 80s.

Do you like all the funky colors like fluorescent pinks and greens? If we count some more then add a bright orange, red, yellow, etc. All these colors were first included in clothing in those years. Before that, nobody thought that these hues could be a part of wardrobes.

80s TV Shows

Though we must pen here that television wasn’t so common in the 80s. You might think this isn’t true but don’t just look in Europe. Most parts of Asia, Africa, and other continents lacked this source of fun. Anyhow getting back to the most popular TV shows in the 80s were The Golden Girls, The Wonder Years, Miami Vice, Night Court, Family Ties, etc. Most of these were specially planned and scripted in a way that the whole family could watch it. Thus, these shows were more like a fun activity that all relished after tea time. These involved teen shows, comedy family shows, some serious action, and mysteries.

Games Of The 80s

As mentioned above, the decade of the 80s didn’t have consoles like we have today. There were only Sega's Mark III (Master System), NES/Famicom, and a few others which couldn’t make their place in the market. They had poor visuals and effects and hence people didn’t buy those much. This decade saw a decline in video games production and this was because they felt how poor the quality of games, their stories, and gameplay were. However, towards the end of the 80s, we saw an upheaval with Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda, and a few others.
