WHAT IS HOUSE OF THE DRAGON ALL ABOUT?

If you want to dive deep into the story of House of the Dragon then you are absolutely lucky to be here! House of the Dragon is the prequel to Game of Thrones, the world-acclaimed series. In this one, Targaryens receive major importance in regard to their influence and power. It all begins when the mighty King Jaehaerys I Targaryen loses the only sons he had. In the moment of despair and ailment, he chooses Prince Viserys over Princess Rhaenys. Although, the princess was the eldest but Viserys wished to see a man on the Iron Throne. Soon King Viserys sits on the throne. His first wife gave birth to a princess named Princess Rhaenyra while giving birth to the second, Prince Baelon, Aemma dies and so does her son. Having no heir, King Viserys has pressure on him from the council. Most of them desire Prince Daemon (Viserys’ brother) to be the heir. Contrary to that, Viserys desires the throne in his bloodline and announces the first female heiress to the throne “Princess Rhaenyra” while Daemon is banished.

A few months pass and the rumors related to Daemon arise. It is being told that Daemon has stolen a dragon egg and is about to marry a mistress Mysaria. All of this would disgrace the bloodline and so his actions need to be halted. For this, Otto and other men sail to him. Rhaenyra follows on her dragon. The matters are handled through some alliances made. But, on return, Otto’s daughter Alicent marries Viserys. The marriage doesn’t disturb Rhaenyra much but the birth of Prince Aegon does hurt her. After all, Viserys desired a boy for a long. Nonetheless, all eyes are still on Rhaenyra as she is still the heir. All men want to marry her for power but Viserys is adamant that the decision should be made by the princess herself. Across the border, Craghas Drahar and his pirates are claiming land. Lord Corlys and Prince Daemon try to defend and request aid from the throne. However, with the keen planning of Prince Daemon, they win even before the forces from the King reach.

Soon feelings boil in the hearts of Daemon and Rhaenyra, but the former doesn’t approve of his feelings. This closeness is reported to the King who once again is banished. Viserys believes he’s only doing this for the crown. He further orders Rhaenyra to marry Ser Laenor Velaryon. With no choice left, the poor princess agrees. However, no one knows that Ser Laenor Velaryon is a gay and in love with Ser Qarl Correy. In order to have a bloodline, Rhaenyra gives birth to three sons—Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey. People usually hiss under the table that they are all bastards. Thinking why everyone suspects? None of the boys have platinum blonde hair which is a sign of the lineage. From here, Alicent begins the fight for the Iron Throne while Rhaenyra won’t let her so-called mother take what belongs to her!
