Expats is a tale of three women who live in Hong Kong set in 2014. The world wasn’t like it is today but the problems and obstacles faced are quite similar. It is clear as day that several women can relate themselves to Margaret, Hilary, and Mercy. Sometimes, you have everything but the one thing that lack in your life becomes a thorn that always hurts. You can say that this is the case for Margaret as she was a successful architect and then turned into a housewife. However, in an unfortunate accident, Margaret lost her son and since then she has been searching for him although she has two other children too. It feels as if the lady has the world, but in reality, Margaret only wants her son.

On the other hand, we have Hilary who has been a good friend to Margaret for a long. She is fighting infidelity and infertility in her relationship. Being an expat, Hilary doesn’t have many people to support her but the smile on her face is what brings the charm to her personality. Last but not least is Mercy who is in her twenties and messed up in her life. There has been a rough past in her life where she has made some mistakes that have cost her too much. Doing part-time jobs here and there, Mercy is trying to survive and hide from her past as well.

IS IT WORTH WATCHING?

If you prefer drama and mystery when it comes to your watchlist then go for Expats. The IMDb rating of the series is 5.9/10 which can be a little depreciating. But, on Rotten Tomatoes 81% of the audience like it.
