IS MOANA 2 BETTER THAN THE LAST MOVIE?

Visually, Moana 2 is a masterpiece. There are more vivid animation with great looking ocean and stunning storms. If you were captivated by the looks of this first movie then the sequel will floor you story-wise, it’s a mixed bag. It’s full of action and features humor. While the original Moana as main protagonist has a very emotional, character development arc, this time, it is all external conflict.

Some fans may not see the personal growth aspect that was expected in Moana. Characters? Maui is back, and funny as ever, Hei Hei is still amazing but unfortunately, characters like Moana’s crew do not have ample screen time to prove themselves. It is nice but Moana remains mostly in the highlight. Thus, Moana 2 is a brilliant sequel that seems interesting finally and makes us enjoy the film although it doesn’t surpass the success of Moana.

STORY OF MOANA 2 REVEALED

In sequels set three years after that famous escapade with Maui and Te Fiti, Moana is still an adventurous voyager. She then becomes a wise sailor, who sails the islands close to Motunui looking for individuals who feel the sea in their bones. One day, she experiences a vivid vision of her ancestor, Tautai Vasa, who reveals a startling truth: the conditions of the conglomerate were disrupted by the tempestuous storm god Nalo, who drowned the island Motufetu and caused the break between the isles. Even worse, Motunui – where all the inhabitants of Te Fiti – stands to disappear if Moana doesn’t regain Motufetu.

In the stories, we find our favorite characters: Loto, who is an articrafts lover; Moni, a history enthusiast who has a thing for Maui; Keke—a somewhat grumpy elder; and, of course, Pua and Hei Hei, funny animals. Both sequentially, they pursue the trail of a meteor through the sea to the unknown perils. However, Maui has other objectives targeting Motufetu in order to challenge Nalo, but Matangi Nalo’s henchman captures him. Maui decides not to call for Moana, thinking that she is not ready for what gets ahead. Moana’s crew encounters large gigantic beasts, severe storms, and coconut pirates to learn that Nalo harmed not only herself but others as well. They find a friendly Kakamora named Kotu and with his help, they fight a giant clam.

Next, Maui escapes Matangi’s clutches. Matangi, annoyed with Nalo, helps the loser run away and points them to Nalo’s place. After that, there is courage and magic. There are fire storms, thunderstorms, poisonous windstorms, and other horrific creatures in Nalo’s domain. In the last battle, Maui takes Motufetu on high, but Nalo kills him. In a last attempt, Moana jumps into the sea in order to restore the power of the island and dies doing so. Her ancestor spirits bring her back to life as a demigoddess and give her the navigator’s tattoo. Maui returns his powers, and they take Motufetu to reunite the islands and regain the link between humans and water.

The movie concludes with what seems like a royal feast in Motunui which Moana leads a fleet gang of oceanic tribes. But hey, Nalo and Tamatoa are up for revenge did you forget that already? This seems to be an interesting turn that happened after the conclusion of this story!!
